Deleted Font Still Showing Up (and Adobe TypeKit font question)

Asked by Jen Allen

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2

This morning I closed Inkscape so that I could install a new font I need. It is a TTF. The new font has the same name as an old font, so I told my computer to go ahead and replace the old font. After it was installed, I opened Inkscape, but it is still using the old font with that name. I went into my system font directly and the old font isn't even there anymore. I closed Inkscape again. I deleted the new font. I restarted my computer. I opened Inkscape and it STILL showed the old font even though it had been removed from my computer. I closed Inkscape. I installed the new font again. I tested it in Microsoft Word and Adobe Illustrator. Both only showed the new font. I opened Inkscape and it STILL ONLY HAD THE OLD FONT that has been REMOVED from my computer!!! How do I get Inkscape to forget about that old font (that is nowhere else on my computer - I even removed the thought of it from my MainType font manager)?

ALSO - how do I get my Adobe TypeKit fonts to show up in Inkscape. They are synced and I can access them in Adobe Illustrator.

So I unistalled Inkscape and reinstalled it... Here's the crazy thing. When I type the text out, it is the wrong font. But when I open the "Text & Font" box, it shows the CORRECT font. I wish I could upload a screenshot. So I need to know why it won't show the correct font when I type the word!!

That's probably because Windows doesn't really delete fonts that you uninstall. According to a recent forum discussion, it appears it just renames them, but Inkscape doesn't know about that, and just uses the renamed file.

You will need to remove any trace of the font on your system. This might require sysadmin permissions and a special file manager.

Fonts managed by font managers don't currently work with Inkscape. You would need to install them.

Can you help with this problem?
