File -> Clean up document
Save as 'optimized SVG'
remove unnecessary nodes, objects, filters, ...
combine or union objects of same style
use clones, if you have multiple copies of one object (more than, say, 5)

(this is if you want to reduce the file size of the SVG)

If you want to reduce the png file size, you can use
- pngquant
- optipng
- or perhaps convert to jpg

Yeah it's a png that I import. I've tried to clean the file but doesn't make any difference. It stays at 30kb. And if I change it to jpg, won't it become a square picture? I want to keep the transparent parts.

I'd try to recreate the artwork in vectors, and delete the bitmap from the file.

Or use a bitmap editor, e.g. GIMP, then pngquant or optipng.

(The size cannot change, because the data in an imported png will stay the same in Inkscape. Inkscape is not the correct tool to edit png images, while Gimp is.)

Okay thank you I will try Gimp.

Can you help with this problem?
