How do i edit text in an image ive downloaded

Hi Guys as a novice i am trying to alter a downloaded image to create my own similar image to be precise i want to alter the fender guitar logo before putting decal on a homemade guitar thanx for any help with this keep up the good work

If the image is vectors, check out editing paths:

If the image is a bitmap (raster) , check out tracing, then edit the vector result.

Inkscape's built-in tutorials (in the Help menu) are useful for getting started.
