will not export to sign cut

Asked by Greg LaRose on 2017-11-06

I had to update my subscription to sign cut. since that time it no longer will send my Inkscape files to sign cut. It says "Error, cannot find any vector data. Text need to be converted to paths.". I never had to set anything up when i first got the cutter so i don't know what to do.

Can you describe the steps you used before?

If you want to convert objects to path , an choice in the path menu will do that:

I will start by saying that i am not very proficient at this stuff. When i bought the cutter it came with the Inskape program and the Sign cut program. When i loaded the programs and set up the cutter it all worked automatically. i didn't have to set up any paths. I generally only use the text for small signs i use in construction projects. I recently had to update my subscription to sign cut and inkscape. since them the programs are not synced.

You could try re-installing the plugins (extensions):

I downloaded the plugin and it still shows the same error.

And have you converted the text to paths, as TylerDurden suggested? Select text, do Path -> Object to Path.

Greg LaRose (ninersfan84) said : #6

Yes. i converted the text as you stated and still no change.

Mmh, okay :-(

Does it help to move the text a bit, when in your preferences the setting at Edit > Preferences > Behavior > Transforms > Store transformation is set to 'optimized'?

When you've tried this, then I can only suggest to look if SignCut has a support page, forum or hotline.

Essentially, it's their software, and we cannot test what it's doing without having a device ourselves... :-( We can only exclude user errors, and try to think of common bugs that have the same symptoms.

I could possibly help you if we were in the same location, and I could test directly, but it might need modifications on the Signcut extension, and I don't even know if those are allowed to be made (might be proprietary code, don't know).

Can you help with this problem?
