is there a way to join a network of strokes?

Asked by andrea k

I have a sketch of strokes that consists of several overlapping lines. Is there a function to make them all into a connected network of lines?

Inkscape 0.92
windows 10

Select all of them, then hit Ctrl+K to combine into a single path, consisting of subpaths. As paths can never 'branch' in SVG, they will still be overlapping lines, but those lines are then all part of a single object. Not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Or you could select all of them, then do 'stroke to path' and then union them (Ctrl++), to get a non-overlapping structure, consisting of a fill only.

That's it. It makes a shortcut for filling with color. If there's another way, I'd love to hear about it.
