Inkscape

Problem opening up an eps

I have been using inkscape fine for about a week or two and now when I try and open an EPS file I get an error message Failed to load the requested file /Users/hiwaytrk09/Downloads/stick people/sports stick family.eps
I have reinstalled inkscape and X11 and it still continues. I am using a Mac OSX 10.5.6

Any suggestions on what to do.

Can you open the file in some other program?

do you use development version of Inkscape? AFAIK stable version couldn't open EPS directly — only PDF

This is more of a question to your question than answer but can you please let me know as to how you open your eps file on OSX in inkscape.
