Can't open ai files

I've installed the 64bit windown vertion to my PC and try to open the ai files but gives me an error saying it fails to open the files. Please let me know what I should do now.

1. Open the .ai file with Inkscape from the command line. Make a note of the error messages you get.
You will need to enter something like "inkscape myfile.ai".

2. Search the bug reports, and if yours doesn't exist yet, create a bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape , if possible, attach a test case file.
