Why do the preferences say 1 thing and the actual drawing say another?

Asked by Lisa Barr

I am trying to change the defaults on Inkscape Preferences.

I am using the Beizer tool. (but it is the same with the pencil & the pen)

i draw a line, in Fill/Stroke I change the width to .010.
Then I got to Inkscape preferences.

Since I can't find Bezier, I choose pencil, I click the radio button "This Tools' Own Style" and the choose the bar "Take Last Selection" (It did the same thing when I chose Pen)

it changes the information above the "Take Last Selection" to Fill: nothing Stroke: 0.9

WHY??????

Shouldn't it be .10?

Is this a bug? Should I be reporting it on the bug list?

try downloading the last development version, it might solve all your problems at once. you can get it here
http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32/?M=D

to get directly to the preference of a tool, just double click it.

I figured it out.

I had the stroke set to .010 INCHES
The preferences show .9 PIXELS

.01 inches = .9 pixels

Sure wish there was a way to change Everything from inches to pixels & vice versa, instead of it being a bastard with the INKSCAPE Preferences always set to pixels & the document changable to inches.
