pasting text into a text box so it flows

When I paste text from a Word document into a text box, I'm unable to get the text to flow when I alter the shape of the box. Instead, the text just scales with the box. How can I get the text to automatically flow?

I'd ensure I'm using the text tool to manipulate the flowed-text area. There will be handles exactly like the rectangle tool handles to control the size and rounding of the flowed-text area.
