Installed 4.6, created box on page, only anchors viewable. When focus removed from the object, the object anchors disappear from view. I never actually get to see the object. Its there, you can select it, but its not viewable on screen.

Asked by Figment

I have had ver 4.5 installed for over a year. It works great! Crashes occassionally, but otherwise great.
I installed 4.6 and the program will launch. I can edit existing svgs but I cannot create new drawings.
For instance, if I draw a box i can see the anchors but not the box. If i click off the box it disappears and I'm looking at a blank page. I can click on the box and again see the anchor points but not the box. This is the case with anything I draw, lines, circles, paths, etc.
I reinstalled 4.6 and the program worked great ...the 1st time I used it. Once I closed the program and reopened it, it was back to not showing the objects on the page.
I can edit existing drawings but cannot create new.
I am using Windows XP and this has not changed since I was successfully using ver 4.5.

are you sure that fill or stroke colours are set for your shapes? (you can also chose default fill/stroke in Inkscapes preferences for each shape/tool)

try deleting inkscape prefs.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I did set the colours and tried various
settings, and also checked the individual preferences for each shape, still
no good.
AND I found that I misspoke about existing drawings, I thought I could edit
them, and I can but I cannot ADD anything NEW to them. Still the same
issue, it looks like its drawing the shape but nothing is there.

Where do I find the inkscape prefs to delete them. What's the file name
used in an XP environment?
