Font variation version 0.92.1

Asked by Simone

I recently upgraded to v. 0.92.1. I have plenty of SVGs made with a previous version of Inkscape (don't remember which one, but I installed more or less in 2015). When opening them, the texts change font. For instance, all the texts in Arial are imported in one of the following:

* Antique olive
* Helvetica
* sans-serif
* Sans

with no apparent reason. Often it happens that all of these appear in a single SVG, which previously had only Arial.

Moreover, texts in Atene get converted in Antique olive.

Could you please support me?

Could be that the fonts are 'aliased' in windows, and not actually in the fonts directory. Inkscape currently requires font files actually reside in the fonts directory. This issue can result from using font manager software other than MS windows.

I'd check that first. If needed, copy the fonts into your system's ../Windows/Fonts directory.

Dear TylerDurden, thank you for your suggestions. I checked and it appears that all the fonts required are in the Fonts directory. What puzzles me is that Inkscape loads as "sans-serif" what was formerly "Sans" or "Arial". All of this considering that there is no "sans-serif" in my Fonts directory, now.

Can you help with this problem?
