Inkscape shows modification date,but not the images modifyed

I have saved may work. Closed the program and when I open this again no modifyed data is saved. Under properties document is showing the date and the time of the last modification. I am using Inkscape 0.92.1 r15371

Windows, Mac or Linux... and which OS version?

Also, do you open the same file using the OS file system or the recent list in Inkscape, or another way?

Also can you run Inkscape from the command line and see what it says?
Additionally, make sure that you saved into the correct file name and file format.
