Red Box (stroke only) that I can't delete? on image

Asked by bosshogg

I have a rolling collage of assembled images, that I change from time to time. Recently a red box outline has appeared and now I cannot delete it, raise an image to cover it, click on it or anything. Can you please advise me...Allan

Hi Allan,

so the object that is there is insensitive to mouse clicks.

There are a couple of reasons for this.
- The object could be locked (try Objects -> Unlock all, to unlock)
- The object could be on a locked layer (open the layers dialog and check if any of them has a closed lock icon, click on it to change)
- and there may be some less obvious reasons.

If the first two hints don't help, please share the SVG file. You can remove any private objects from it first, if you need to, and replace a couple of them by non-private stuff, just so it's easier to explain what's wrong.

You can upload the file to imgh.us or framadrop.org (or to some other file hoster) and share the link.

Kind Regards,
 Maren

Hi Hachmann, I ended up selecting all, cutting and pasting to a new page
which got me around the problem for now. I'll try your solutions if it
happens again, as it's really annoying when this happens...thanks...Allan

I just had an identical problem. It turned out I was part way through a spell check. Completing the spell check removed the red box.

I realise this post is old , but hope this addition solves a head scratcher for someone...
