problem 'uniting' shapes

hi, can you please tell me how to unite shapes. I have tried Ctrl+ + which doesnt appear to do anything. I am using the current version of Inkscape.

Also. how can I save files to open in Craftrobo software.

you are doing it the right way.. Ctrl++, did you try it directly from the menu? try turning your shapes to paths before uniting them (Path menu > Object to Path (shift+Ctrl+C)).

for craftrobo i saw on their website it can open .dxf (i don't know if it can open any other format), so save your file as dxf. (save as->*.dxf) You might want to install a development version of Inkscape as some work has been done on the dxf exporter (it might also correct your uniting problem if it was a bug)
