my curser does not line up with xy registration points

Asked by joan

my curser is not lined up with the xy registration points on the program so when I put something on the page it actually puts it somewhere off the page... the item is put at the xy coordinates, however my curser is not there.. this happens only on the drawing page area

When you say "when I put something" do you mean when you paste a copied object?
The copied objects are pasted using the cursor coordinates.
Please try to explain better the problem. As far as I can see, there are no problems with the coordinates and mouse position.

after opening page...i get the two coordinate markers that move as i move around the page. however, when i try to draw, my mouse marker is one place and the item i am drawing is at the place the two little xy coordinate markers cross..how do I align my mouse arrow with those markers? I draw one place it shows up another place...the place it shows is at the x of the xy coordinates are, but that is not where my mouse arrow is...??? does this explain better?

And this only happens in Inkscape? What OS (eg Windows XP SP3, Ubuntu 8.04, Mac OSX 10.3, ...) , which Inkscape version?

If it's not just inkscape then you've asked your question in the wrong place, but I have an idea what it is. If it is just Inkscape then I've no idea, sorry.

I use the latest version of inskscape .46? just downloaded last week....this is only happening with this program. I use a bamboo pad with mouse and also the pen...the pen works well, only the mouse is out of whack...any suggestions?

That looks like a bug. You should use the "Bugs" section to report it.
First use the search function and look for a similar bug. If you find a similar bug, add your information, if there isn't a similar bug create a new report.
Specify what version of inkscape are you running, in which operating system and give all the details you can to help to track the origin of the problem.

This section is intended for usage questions and not for reporting bugs.

thank you so much for your help. I love this program.. it is the only one I found that actually will tie in all elements for scrapbookers, and machine embroiderers that use cricut machines to cross all platforms for design purposes..
