how to select and remove object in pdf drawing?

I am just getting started using inkscape and want to alter a current pdf drawing. How can I select and remove a small object in a current pdf drawing?

if the drawing is a raster image (like one created with gimp or photoshop) you can't edit it directly in Inkscape, you'll have to export it to gimp/photoshop edit it and then replace it in Inkscape.

if the drawing is a vector image, just select, and hit delete. If selecting it, selects all the page, It might be grouped to the rest of the page, so ungroup it first (Object menu > Ungroup (Shift+Ctrl+G)) and then you'll be able to select it, maybe you'll have to ungroup a few times until everything gets ungrouped.

Hi It's clear to me now. I solved it by pasting a with square over the item I wanted to block out
