merge layers

Asked by badboy00z

Is it possible to add nodes at specific points of a line? Often times I would draw a line or a curve and then need to erase/ delete a part of it. I know the "Effects-> Modify path-> add nodes" approach but I can't seem to get the results I want. I want a simple way to add nodes by clicking where I want the node to be placed.

double click anywhere on your path with the node tool (F2 or N) and a new node will be added.

Okay cool. Now how do I delete the part between the selected nodes?

BTW Rico, you seem to have the answer to everything. Is there a place where I can learn the function and use of the tools and options?

when the node tool is active, you see the tool controls bar changing and giving you options for the nodes, so select your 2 nodes and click the appropriate icon on the tool controls bar (they are quite explicit.. the one you want represents 2nodes with a line and a little arrow showing that it'll become 2 nodes without a line..)

The first place to go to learn.. is closer than you think, just check the Help menu in Inkscape, you will find there a link to a very well documented manual, keys and mouse shortcuts and even tutorials. You can find some help as well on the forums http://www.inkscapeforum.com , and another great ressource would be the video tutorials at http://screencasters.heathenx.org/ .

I don't have answer to everything, but as I'm not a coder..this is my way of helping the Inkscape community.

hope this helps.
