No interface after installing Inkscape

Asked by Fortissimo

Hi. I use a Mac G4 PPC with OS 10.4.11. I have installed the X11 from the Tiger CD, reinstalled the macport, got the update for Inkscape, and have done what appears to be necessary for Inkscape to work. I can open Inkscape, but the menu bar only has "Inkscape" with no File, Edit or other menu items—in other words, no interface. The drop down menu for "Inkscape" only has these items: Services, Hide Inkscape, Hide Others and Quit Inkscape.

I would really like to use Inkscape, especially now that there is an airbrush tool available. I am at a loss as to what to do. All suggestions welcome.

Thanks. Fortissimo

If you see Inkcape in the menu bar it means you are not using the X11 version. The Inkscape without X11 seems to be still unstable at the moment.

You don't need macports to install inkscape you can download the .dmg from inkscape's website http://inkscape.org/download/?lang=en
In the X11 version the menus are inside the Inkscape window.

you can also get some development versions for PPC but not as up to date as their Intel counterparts

also check that your X11 version is recent enough, you can download it from here:
