rectangle shape won't delete when opening

There is a large rectangle on my screen when I try to open. It doesn't show as layer one and I can't get rid of it.

Could it be that Patsy is referring to the 'page' area?

If so, Patsy, you can disable the page border display by going to File -> Document properties, first tab, bottom: Uncheck 'Show page border'.

If this doesn't solve your problem, you could use the website http://imgh.us or any other file hoster of your choice to share the file, as Tyler suggested.

Thanks so much! I just downloaded it and was unable to try it, but Hachmann's directions made it disappear.
