Is there a Scallop tool, or a work around in Inkscape?

I am trying to make swirls and a tutorial calls for a scallop tool. Is there something like that in Inkscape?

I don't know exactly what you mean by scallop tool, maybe the spiral tool?

anyway, an easy way to to swirls in Inkscape is using the new spiro tool present in the development version.
