inkscape snap controls not responding

There is a "master "snap control button that activates the snap groups. Each snap group also has its own activation button. The activation buttons look like a small blue square, upper left, and a small green square lower right, with a line between the two squares.

Groups include: nodes, bounding box and snap other points (guides, etc.).

Ensure the master snapping button is active and snap group activation buttons are active.

Thanks, I will mark this solved ... although it just started to work by itself today. I did nothing different today than yesterday, but all of a sudden it's now working as described. Can't explain why clicking the buttons didn't work at all yesterday.

If that happens to you again, you can (hopefully) also temporarily disable snapping by pressing the Shift key.

BTW - I never used (or knew about) this Ubuntu facility until now. Do you
do this (i.e. answer problems/questions) as a volunteer, or does Inkscape
(which I thought was Open Source and therefore not a paid-for product) pay
for Ubuntu services?

AFAIK, everyone around here are volunteers. (I'm an Inkscape user, some of the more knowledgeable folks may be developers.)
