I would like to export in .ai for Maxon c4d (3D program) and I don't manage to export...

Asked by cg.students

I want to be able to draw the "profile" of a shape let's say a vase in order to lathe it in cinema4D after having exported from Inkscape. C4D can handle .ai file, .dxf, .3ds formats, etc. but I don't manage it.
Inkscape saves a .ai file butI cannot use it, nothing "lands" in c4d...

I am using Win XP SP3

Can you help me please?

did you try to save in .dxf? or import directly in .svg?

did you try with proper .ai or .dxf from another software (like adobe illustrator)? this is to check if the problems come from C4D or from the export of inkscape.

I don't have C4D to try it, but as a workaround you can probably import your .svg to blender and export it from blender to .dxf .3ds .obj or watever format C4D likes to eat.

Can you help with this problem?
