A problem regarding object in Inkscape

Asked by Dorian W. Wesley

Hi, from Prince Tanglemane.

I'm trying to put an object in the hand of another object (Lion ensign) but it keeps going behind the object, not in the paw.

Like how the Statue of Liberty holds a torch.

I want my lion ensign to hold something in its paw rather behind it.

Hi Dorian / Prince Tanglemane,

please see
http://vektorrascheln.de/posts/2015/Dec/inkscape-fuer-einsteiger-teil-i-grundlagen-en.html#stacking-order
and
http://vektorrascheln.de/posts/2015/Dec/inkscape-fuer-einsteiger-teil-ii-praxis-en.html#changing-the-stacking-order-z-order

Note that an object can never be above AND below another object at the same time. If you parts of the hand (thumb) above / and parts of the hand below (palm) the object, then you'll need to cut the hand in two pieces, and put one above and one below the object.

Kind Regards,
 Maren
