Cannot open Stroke Style tab

Asked by Starchy

I'm a new Beginner and after I enter text and select it, I cannot get Stroke Style tab to open...it's greyed out.
I can get the other tabs to open and work Fill and Stroke Fill. I've searched many places to find an answer
but will someone here give me some guidance. Thanks, Starchy

Hi Starchy,

Does your text have a stroke? If the Stroke Paint tab is set to no paint (and it's the default text behavior, as far as I remember), you can't add a stroke styles. But if you set it to a color, gradient or pattern, the Stroke Style tab is no longer greyed.

Thanks JassyNico, I remember in one tutorial that the "?" was click for some reason
on last two tabs and from your instruction I went back a click on the "?" and it's now
not greyed-out and works. Thanks for your help. Starchy

Happy it helped you.
Just note that "?" lets the fill unset, which may not be a good idea... except if you use cloned copies of the object (see http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Attributes-Fill-Stroke.html)

JazzyNico, I've been working in Paint.net and saw someone make a reference to Inkscape and thought
I'd take a look and Man! I can't believe what you can do with this free Software. Blows my mind !!! I'll be
spending some time working/learning here. If you don't mind, I'll probably have some more questions.
Try not to bother you so much. Really looking forward to "digging -in". Starchy
