Hello Julie-Ann.

Did you try to change the colour of the outline, before you tried to draw the star/whatever? Could you check the line with, if it is thick enough to see?

if you do Edit Menu> Select all, does something get selected on the page?

You could also change the view to "wireframe" as that will show objects that are hidden due to being the same colour as the background or being behind other objects. When you have a shape selected (after you've drawn it you can still see the dotted selection box around it) then click on a colour swatch at the bottom of the screen and it will be filled in in that colour.

I think you can change the default colour in the File > Inkscape Preferences dialog.

I seem to have the same problem right now. Shapes does not appear but they get selected when I do the "select all" command. I have the stroke and fill both set correctly. Seems like a glitch because I was able to see the shapes before.

Can you help with this problem?
