error message The inkex.py module requires PyXML

Asked by KittyAntonikWakfer

This is the error message I got when a path was selected (freehand draw and also a circle turned to path) and indicated Effects > Add Nodes: "The inkex.py module requires PyXML. Please download the latest version from <http://pyxml.sourceforge.net/>." There is nothing at this website - "We're Sorry but this Project hasn't yet uploaded their personal webpage yet. Please check back soon for updates or visit SourceForge"

I got the same error message when attempting to "jitter nodes" than I have inserted in the path manually. (This and above are techniques in video tutorial by Richard Querin, Screencasters Episode 074 "Sunset Illustration with Starry Sky" - http://screencasters.heathenx.org/wp-content/videos/ep074.avi )

Today now I again get this same message when I attempt to use the envelope effect - even when being careful to select paths in the proper order.

I am using Inkscape v0.45 downloaded from CNR.com on Linspire 6.0.17. What am I doing wrong?

Although the icon shown at CNR for Inkscape was for the image of 0.46, the download actually was and still is for 0.45. In the last several days (looks like it was actually on 1/4/09) someone corrected this error.

Upon getting 0.46 to download - only after installing ubuntu on one of our units - I found that the perspective effect does what I want. Strangely, the envelope effect put the text on its side within a path in the shape of a trapezoid, that used for perspective.

Thanks.
