I am trying to find Convert to Path under the Path, I can't find it. I understand I need it before saving my file as a SVG. I only get a red box in my cutting program.

Asked by rbbeech

I have imported an image into Inkscape, cleaned it up, and saved it as a svg file. When I import in into SCAL, my cutting program, a red empty box shows up.

I read online that I need to go to Path and then to Convert to path before saving as a svg file. I cannot find Convert to path under path in my Inkscape.

Cutters cannot do images. You have to trace bitmap and tweak or redraw it on bitmap, delete the bitmap itself before cutting.

I am trying to make a welded word with inkscape. I have typed out the word in outline mode and rotated the letters and moved them together. I got the instructions from a webpage created in 2008 on the site called craftedge. Anyway, it says to select all (the word) and then covert the object to path. However, when I do that I get a message in the status bar at the bottom that says "no objects to convert to path in the selection".

Also I am trying to convert a scanned pdf file of a bear for my SCAL software so that I can cut it with my cricut. Any help you can give me would sure be appreciated.

Also regarding the first question by rbbeech - the command is found under Path>Object to Path. Click on this and you will convert to path (remember to select your object first). But then you may run into the problem I alluded to in my last answer.

Can you help with this problem?
