convert word .doc to svg

Trying to import a word document but it abends. Is this possible? My end result is to create an SVG out of the .doc

Inkscape cannot import word documents. You either have to copy-paste it or print it to pdf or ps file and import that.

thank you.. converted .doc to pdf, inturn saved pdf to svg!
