It keeps changing my CMYK numbers

Asked by Mariah Clark

My Printer told me to set my black to C-75 M-68, Y-67, K-90. But every time I enter the numbers it changes them to something else. How am I supposed to set the color if it is constantly changing? Am I doing something wrong? I am in fill and have CMYK selected.

Hi Mariah,

Inkscape can currently only work in CMYK colorspace for displaying, or for further use in Scribus (http://scribus.net).

It is not able to export files in CMYK colorspace.

(I know this doesn't address the changing color values, which could be - as far as I can guess - due to the default CMYK color space Inkscape may use - , but it may be that you didn't know yet and will want to adapt your workflow).

If you intend to use Inkscape for setting CMYK color values with a specific black color, you need to make sure to use Inkscape's color management functions, and to activate a color profile that matches your print service's demands. Then you'll need to import the file into Scribus to be able to export it in CMYK.
