Problem with saved .gif after editing in Inkscape

Asked by hyballs

Hi folks, I import a .gif image to Inkscape and do what I want with it but come time to save and the problems begin. I use the option "guess the extension" in save but to no avail. All the other options are not satisfactory. And there is no .png option available, as mentioned elsewhere. This really limits the effective use of Inkscape. Any ideas? Thanks

File -> Export bitmap to make PNG. Afterwards you can use GIMP or whatever to resave it to gif. Also don't forget to save to Inkscape SVG format, as this is the only lossless one in inkscape, useful in case you need to do some more editing.

Hi mahfiaz, "Export bitmap to make PNG. Afterwards you can use GIMP or whatever to resave it to gif." I see what you mean. "Also don't forget to save to Inkscape SVG format, as this is the only lossless one in inkscape, useful in case you need to do some more editing." I had trouble saving the gif as an SVG then reopening it. Will playaround with it some more to find a solution. Thanks
