an object in my file disappears

Asked by kellylet

So one of the object in my files gets messed up everytime I reopen it.

Sometimes when reopened it is upside down and others it itsn't there at all. I have saved the file as a PDF and SVG. I don't know whats wrong or how to fix it.

Please help. Thank You!

I suppose this happens when opening PDF file. There are many open bugs related to pdf import, this may be one of these.
So use SVG instead, as SVG is inkscape's native format. Inkscape SVG format will preserve everything you have done. To import other files inkscape uses import filters, and export filters to save. And most of export formats are lossy compared to SVG as none of these AFAIK support filters like SVG, only some of these support opacity and gradients.
To achieve blur effect in PDF, on export the blurred object gets rendered into transparent image, also gradients are broke into several objects.
So once again: use inkscape SVG format as default, and others to export final work.

Can you help with this problem?
