Color trouble with tools

This is the first time I have used a program like this. I have checked the manual and didn't find an answer. When I first installed it everything worked then when I went back to use the tools and the paint bucket, calligraphic, rectangle, star, 3D Box, and shapes had no color. I could make a circle and spiral the bezier and pencil work. I uninstalled it and the reinstalled it hoping it would stop the problem, it didn't.

The layers are not locked and eye is open. The fill and stroke are set in color and opacity is 100%. The view is set to normal. What else can I do?

Could you please describe what steps are you following to create the shapes?
For example:
-create a rectangle
-left-click on a color swatch or use the fill and stroke dialog to define a color or gradient fill and stroke.

If you selet a shape, are you able to apply a fill on it, or the created shape is just invisible?
If you press CTRL+(keypad)5, can you see the shapes you created?

I'm just guessing here, but maybe your preferences file got corrupted, so possibly deleting the preferences folder may help.

Try setting color for all of the tools to their default ones. This is in Preferences.
