Cannot get Gcode to Generate in 0.92

Asked by Michael Wickham

Hi,

I am new to inkscape so I hope this will be simple.

I cannot get gcode to generate in inkscape.

I tried following several examples in youtube but they did not help.

Is there a simple set of instructions that will detail how to get something to generate gcode.

Thank you
Michael

Hi Michael,

can you post a link to the examples you tried?
What happens when you try, where do you get stuck?
What is your Inkscape version?

Kind Regards,
 Maren

I have tried the following YouTube example but do not have the extension under the file SAve as
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbe56S_O-uI&t=170s

When I try to go to Extensions - Path to Gcode I get the error in the log file:
Gcodetools log file.
Started at 01.03.2017 21:30:00.
c:\cnc_tools\baby2.log
"preferences" tab is active.
Select one of the action tabs - Path to Gcode, Area, Engraving, DXF points, Orientation, Offset, Lathe or Tools library.\n Current active tab id is "preferences"

Thanks for any help
Michael

Hi Michael,

the video uses an extension that is linked in the description on youtube.
You need to install the extension if you want to use it.

There is also a longer description for the video linked, you should read it ;-)

The extension you're trying to use that comes with Inkscape (gcodetools) works differently.
If you want to use that one, you will need to look for tutorials for "gcodetools", or visit the forum that is linked from the extension's help tab (sorry, can't help further with that, I don't have a plotter).

Good luck!

Kind Regards,
 Maren
