<solved> toolbox disappears

I'm totally new to Inkscape - have bought the book and am studying furiously, but I also have some work to get out ASAP. My Inkscape toolbox keeps disappearing at odd moments. I bring it back and it disappears again. If I reduce size of main window to less than full screen, and bring it back (via main menu) it's sitting on the left edge of my screen, and I cannot move it. I cannot figure out what's going on. I cannot find any documentation about this. This is nuts.

I'm on Kubuntu Linux 8.04.1

Can anyone tell me how to KEEP the toolbar where I first saw it - on the left side of the Inkscape window?

SOLUTION: Find the bloody tool box handle and put the thing back where it belongs. I really couldn't see the handle. It's NOT blue on my system, and it's barely visible. So...sorry for the noise.
