Best office vector format

Asked by Dženan Zukić

As neither MS Office nor Open Office support SVG, what is the best vector format for use in office applications?

I am currently using EPS with OOo, but those same EPSs cannot be opened in MS Office.

All the files I encountered looked incorrectly when exported to Enhanced Meta File (EMF).

PDF cannot be imported as picture in either office suite.

Any thoughts?

Dženan, upcoming 0.47 version has a much improved EPS exporter. We don't know when it will be available as a final version (later this year maybe). I probably should not encourage using unstable builds, but if you absolutely need it, you could try one of them.

As a last resort you could export to a 300dpi PNG and then downscale it in Writer or Word.

Hm, delivery format for this paper (and most of others) is PDF. Therefore, to achieve high print quality with rasters, PDF grows to ~3MB, versus ~400KB when vectors are used.

As I said, EPS does import into OOo, so I am using that combination right now.

Thanks for the answer.
