ubuntu package for 0.47, where?

Asked by pbhj

On http://inkscape.org/download/?lang=en it says that the 0.47 package is in the usual "unstable" Ubuntu repos. I can't find it, it doesn't appear on packages.ubuntu.com and I have the launchpad "alpha" repos in my list and it's not in there either. Is the inkscape page lying or am I just being an idiot ...?

Please respond with the deb line for the apt repos from which 0.47 can be installed if possible, thanks.

No, it doesn't say that. There are also no .deb of to-be 0.47 that we know of. Bryce will probably start doing them again when Inkscape 0.47 will go to beta phase.

No, you're right it says under development versions:

"Compiled Packages

"If you don't want to compile the code yourself, use the nightly build for your system:

"[...] Debian Dependencies — everything is available in the unstable apt repositories."

Which I just assumed meant "everything is available in the unstable apt repositories" and was wondering which they were. Note that the next section says "compiling" so this isn't a reference to build dependencies. Anyhow, the short answer appears to be "no they're not available from the project team". I might actual go back to compiling my own ... haven't done that since Jan when I moved from Slackware to Ubuntu.

For other readers: There are several tutorials on compiling 0.47 accessible from Google, it's a standard install AFAICT. Also YouTube has quite a few screencasts showing new features. Which is nice.
