am using inkscape 0.91 Xquartz 2.7.8 macbook air - no scroll with cnt + arrow keys - just magnifies

my version of inkscape 0.91 Xquartz 2.7.8 for Macbook Air does not scroll as suggested. Cnt + arrow keys causes magnification but no scrolling. Why?
