Setting No -Fill and Stroke Width As Defaults

Asked by mjacoby001

I previously submitted this as questions 41997and 41999. I appreciate the prompt responses I got but I am still unable to follow the instructions given. All I want to do is make" no fill" the Inkscape default and set thestroke with to 6 pixels permanently. Is this not possible?

I am 85 years old and probably a little senile so please give me simple step-by-step directions if possible. I know at least one way to set stroke with but it won't stick.

Many thanks,

Marvin Jacoby

Hi,

What you need to do is:

1. Draw a new object for which you need these defaults.

2. In the lower left corner click right mouse button above fill indicator and choose "Remove fill"

3. In the lower left corner click right mouse button above stroke indicator and choose "Black"

4. In the lower left corner click right mouse button above stroke width indicator (right after stroke color indicator) and choose "6"

5. Select this object.

6. Double-click the tool's icon (e.g. Rectangle), choose "Create new objects with: This tool's own style", then click "Take from selection"

From now on all new objects of that type will have no fill and 6px/pt/whatever stroke. You can do the same for other shape tools.

Does it help you?
