text path off set

I have been trying to set text to a circular path but have it offset outside the circle by a set distance.

is there a way of doing this.

the only other way I have thought of is to have an invisble circle but that means a lot of work !!

Yes, you should use an invisible circle. I don't see why that's a lot of work.
