How do I make a gradient move with an object?

Asked by Robin

Hi,

With the "Create and Edit Gradients" tool active its "tool menu" enables creating and picking gradients. But I can't see a "Transform Gradients" button :(

The toolbar shows: The word "New:"; A square with a linear gradient; A square with a radial gradient; The word "on"; A box with a blue gradient; A box with only a partial outline; The word "Change:"; A box with a drop down of gradients; and the word "Edit..". I couldn't find anything helpful in the Gardient dialogue box.

can anyone give any more advice?

Thanks
Robin

You are looking at the wrong toolbar: the "transform gradients" button is on the toolbar for the selector tool (F1). It's near the far end of that toolbar, with tooltip that says "Move gradients (in fill or stroke) along with the objects".

The setting is also available in the Transforms section of the Inkscape Preferences dialog (Shift+Ctrl+P).

Sas you're a b****y star mate! Thanks - I thought those were something tyo do with how stroke corners were treated!!! LoL They look the same as the ones in the Fill/stroke dialogue. The last one looks like a strip of movie film. That's fab thanks :)
