No getting a segmented line between corner nodes when adjusting the letter C in "A Hiking Club Logo" tutorial.

Using Inkscape 0.91 in Windows 7 SP 1. In the third tutorial (http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/AShortExampleLogo.html), I'm not getting the segmented line between the leftmost converted corner node and the converted corner node at the top of the curve of the letter C. I suspect this is a version issue between 0.47/0.48 of the manual and the 0.91 I've installed. At any rate, I'm running into an inability to adjust path as asked. Any help would be appreciated.

I figured it out. The 0.47/0.48 manual doesn't show all the additional nodes along the upper left-hand curve of the C. By deleting the the additional nodes in between the two nodes indicated by the tutorial, the issue was solved. That being said, I still didn't get the segmented line. No matter. I was able to get the C properly extended upwards. Thanks.
