Tool text is not readable, the text is same color as background

Asked by William Davis

When you hover the pointer over the tool icons the text comes out the same color as the background color (white). I am a beginner and I am not sure what the icons are for. How do you change the text color so it can be read.

Hi William,

you can set a color by clicking on one of the colored fields in the palette at the bottom. There are many other options to set and change colors, though. These are described in the manual:

http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Attributes-Fill-Stroke.html

or in this free online book:
http://write.flossmanuals.net/inkscape/fill-and-stroke/

or inside Inkscape, available from the menu:
Help -> Tutorials -> Inkscape: Basic

Kind Regards,
 Maren

I figured it out. It has to do with the general Linux Mint Theme that I had selected for the whole desktop and apps. When I changed the Desktop Theme back to what it was before I started fooling with it, everything works good now. Thanks to anybody who looked at my problem and might have thought about it for a while. I'll get use to Linux one of these days.

Oh, seems I heavily misunderstood what your problem was. Sorry about that!
