Text does not match that of exported image

Asked by Dave

Using - Inkscape 0.91
            - (Windows VISTA Buisness OEMAct HP)

Scenario:
I've exported all my SVG files to PNG, so as I could print them out as a prototype for the project I'm working on.
Now, when I go to edit my SVG files, all the text is.. wrong. The text font has changed, the text size has changed (larger than it should be), and there are filters (such as 'glow') on the text that I had used only in previous versions of this current file.
Thing is, I've updated the file since then and saved (trust me, I saved after every little detail I changed on the SVG), and yet now when I open the file for editing, it's almost as if all the text was converted to some past version.

The proof is there: my exported PNG looks exactly how I last saved my SVG, but now when I open the file everything has changed.

NOTE:
I have not touched these SVG files in quite some time (Febuary 9th/2016), and when I was last editing them my SVG files were perfect. I opened and closed them many times and nothing converted like I'm experiencing now.

Is it possible that I am currently using a different Inkscape Platform than I was when editing my SVG in the past...?
And if so.. Can I re-download the older platform and open my SVG properly?

My computer did crash and was in the hands of a technician for a couple days.. He didn't mention reinstalling any of my files or anything of the sort. In fact he gave me my computer back exactly how it was... Apparently it was just dirty.
Hypothetically, is that a possibility?

( I'm using a 64 bit on Windows 10 )

Hi Dave,

as for the text looking different, make sure you've got the fonts installed that you used for making the design.

As for the glows that are suddenly back, although you removed them, I'm sorry to say that, while this certainly is a very strange thing that's happening, it's most probably not a problem on the Inkscape side, but rather that Inkscape just shows what is in the file currently. I don't think this will change if you use a different Inkscape version.

Maybe the technician restored some older version of the file, maybe you're accidentally using a file saved to a different location than the one you last used. Or maybe you saved to some other file format, not to Inkscape SVG, accidentally. It's hard to say, there are many places where things can go wrong in the workflow.

If I were you, I'd do a thorough search for any possible candidate files on my hard disk to try and find the correct file.
I'd also start making regular backups of my hard disk and activate Inkscape's autosave feature.

Kind Regards,
 Maren

Ahh okay.

I literally made 3 back-ups of these files: all were altered in this same way.

But it`s okay.

I`m just going to have to put the extra work in to put them back to their original form! Woo-hoo!

Thanks budday!
