lost solid fill geometric figures

Asked by Ed Parry

I have suddenly list the ability to create solid filled geometric figures (rectangles, ellipses) Fill and Stroke both show a solid black color.

Running a reinstall/repair, and full uninstall/fresh download/reinstall haven't helped.

suggestions?

thanks,
Ed Parry

Hi Ed,

I assume that fill opacity, the Alpha value in the fill and stroke dialog, is set to 0.
So open the Fill and Stroke dialog (Object -> Fill and Stroke, or double-click on the color field in the bottom left), and move the slider labelled A to the right, so the fill has full opacity.

Fill and stroke opacity is indicated by a checkerboard pattern in the indicator field in the bottom left.

Kind Regards,
 Maren

Maren -

Thanks for the tip ! i think that resolved it.

The Alpha channel slider was set at 255 (all the way to the right), but the opacity % was at 0.0. When I set that to 100.00, the geometric figure appeared.

Would like to find a way to post a screen cap to illustrate...

Yes, we'd all like that...
You can use inkscapeforum.com for questions, too. It's a bit easier when screenshots and image files can be uploaded, I agree with you. And there are more people helping :)
