unwanted filling of space between obect and its bounding box

Asked by patrick palmer

Think of a white triangle with its bounding box. My hp pavilion g6 notebook prints black in the complementary space between the object and its bounding box, but my netbook and pc arewell behaved with the same files. Is there some setting I need to make? If this problem is peculiar to my notebook, where should I explore next to try to eliminate this incorrect graphical output?

Hi Patrick,

sorry, I don't know. I'll need a bit more info.

There is a known printing bug in Inkscape 0.91 64 bit on Windows, which is related to transparencies being used in the drawing. Could it be that one of your devices is using that version, and the other two use a different one, e.g. 32 bit, or not on Windows?

If so, you can fix this by:

- exporting to PNG or PDF, then print that image from another program
- putting a white rectangle at the bottom of your drawing, which is at least as big as your drawing
- eliminating all transparencies in your drawing (no blur, no opacity < 100%, no alpha < 100%)
- using Inkscape 0.91 32bit version

Kind Regards,
 Maren

Thank you Maren. Changing from 64 to 32 bit solved it. Patrick

:-D

The next Inkscape version (0.92) will contain a fix for this bug, there you will be able to use the 64bit version again.
