Shadow Functionality

Asked by Rozencweig

Hello !
Could you put a shadow functionality in the next version ? It would be very useful to be able to put internal and external shadows in objects...
Thank You very much !

You can easily do it yourself with a clone and blur function. Nevertheless, 0.47 will feature a plug-in that will do it automatically for you.

I Know this for the external shadow...
But I still can't make an internal shadow with Inkscape.
I mean this : http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/5746/degradeja3.jpg
for Internl shadow.

What you show isn't quite what I would call inner shadow, but you can easily do exactly that this way:

1. Create a linked offset from your rounded rectangle.
2. Drag its handle a little bit up to make the offset a bit larger than the original object.
3. Change offset's fill to some dark color more or less matching darkest color of the original's gradient fill.
4. Add Gaussian blur to the original object. Something like 4.0 would be OK for your sample.

That's a 20 seconds job :-)

The following Pictures are on : http://flyandarts.blogspot.com/

Okay :D
So, I know how to make this shadow
(see picture #1)
I also know how to make this shadow
(see picture #2)
But I don’t know how to make this one
((see picture #3)
I made the pictures with Microsoft Power Point.
And, I tried to follow your instructions, but the Gaussian blur doesn’t work (I mean, when I try to add this blur, I don’t see any results)

You mean, you select the upper object (original rectangle), open Fill'n'Stroke dialog, change Blur value there and nothing changes? :-)
