Inkscape not responding on launch

The second Inkscape opens, a window that says "Inkscape has stopped working" appears instead. When I hit close, a new window opens that says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc00000005). Click OK to close the application. I reinstalled Inkscape, but it still happens. It was working fine the other day. I use Windows 7.

Hi Alia,

if this is a new problem, maybe your preferences file is broken.

In your user directory on your system, look for a file name 'preferences.xml' and rename it to 'preferences.xml.backup'.
This will prompt Inkscape to create a new preferences file (it could be in this folder: C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Inkscape - but I'm not a Windows user and cannot check).

If this doesn't help, please have a think about what might have changed on your computer (any new programs or new fonts installed? Any file deletions?) and also post the output you get when you run inkscape from the command line.
