Asked by Helen

hi

I am a first time user of inkscape, I've just been following a tutorial and created an Orange arrow, and printed it out to accompany my notes, but serval strange things have happened firstly when playing around resizing the arrow the program shut down then the above happened when I had redone the arrow it printed out with a black background it is also a single layer document and on screen it appears white/transparent.

Please could you advise.

Yours sincerely

Hi Helen,

the black printing is probably due to a bug in the 64bit Inkscape version for Inkscape 0.91.
It is triggered by an object in your drawing being (partially) transparent.

There are a couple of things you can do to work around the issue:

- exporting to PNG, then print that image from another program
- putting a white rectangle at the bottom of your drawing, which is at least as big as your drawing
- eliminating all transparencies in your drawing (no blur, no opacity < 100%, no alpha < 100%)
- using Inkscape 0.91 32bit version

Also see the release notes for the current Inkscape version:

Kind Regards,
 Maren
