no greek characters in symbol font

Neither method to produce Greek characters (glyph command or unicode) works on my computer. In a word document, I have no problems producing them with the symbol font, in Inkscape the symbol font seems to produce ordinary latin characters. Looks like this font is not found.

It does work with the glyph command, but not very smoothly, and it took me some time to find out how.
