Super-Alt in Windows

Asked by Michael Gregoire

I have been watching various tutorials and some of them refer to a 'Super-Alt' key in Linux. I was wondering if there is similar Windows key available in the Windows Version (0.91) of Inkscape? I have not been able to find any answers available in any of the published literature on the program.

Hi Michael,

can you post a link to one of those tutorials? What do you want to use the key for?

I only have an Alt key (and Alt Gr, and Ctrl, and Menu, and a key with a Windows symbol...), but I needed to change some settings so it works with Inkscape, because it's usually snatched away by the functionality for dragging windows on my Linux desktop.

Regards,
 Maren

This is inreply to Maren's request: Here is a link to a video on 'Touch Selection' at screencasters.heathenx.org the link is: http://screencasters.heathenx.org/wp-content/videos/microsodes/ms006.ogv.

In the video they mention Ubuntu running Gnome using the 'Super' + Alt key' aka superalt.

I want to be able to do this same functionality within Windows.

I discovered the answer for myself. Using the Alt + left click drag performs the function I was searching for, touch selection.

Right, glad you found out :) Sometimes just trying things out works best ;-)

(Btw. in the tutorial, he says it's Alt for everyone, and only under Ubuntu/Gnome, you need to additionally press Super (that's the 'Windows' key on the keyboard) so you don't move the window instead of selecting objects.)
